gouache & watercolor/paper, 9” x 12”

One of the things I love about winter is scouting for new painting sites, like this hidden gem in Wilson Woods Park in Mt Vernon, NY. I’ve driven past this site hundreds of time but never notice this wall until recently. The wall is a remnant for an overpass that no longer exists. The great thing about winter is with all of the trees bare, I can see things I would have missed when the trees are in full bloom. In the winter I paint in my car using the steering wheel & some masking tape to create a quick portable easel. This “car painting” is a gouache. I use watercolor to block the image in and then I use gouache for the details.
