I spent the better part of 1999 through the end of 2003 painting on location at an active salvage yard in Hackettstown, NJ. I am amazed at how much stuff winds up at the dump. These paintings have taken on a life of their own, as they changed from fairly straightforward depictions of mountains of junk to large abstract close-ups of crushed debris waiting to be recycled. In 2004 I painted a few additional paintings that fit into this series up near Beacon, NY. By the time I was done with this series I had completed over 60 paintings and monotypes.
